FAQS
Do you make small backyard or hobby greenhouses?
No – GGS only manufactures greenhouses for commercial growing operations and retail garden centers.
What is the minimum length of your greenhouses?
Because our structures are modular pretty much any length is possible, however typically shorter than 48 ft long is not practical.
What is the longest length of your greenhouse?
There is no maximum length from a structural point of view. Material handling factors play a more important role in determining how long you want your greenhouse.
Can I add to my greenhouse down the road?
Absolutely. On all our coldframes, high tunnels, and greenhouses, you can add to the length at any time. Our gutter connected greenhouses are designed to be able to add houses to either side as well.
What are the differences between using natural ventilation vs fan/shutter system?
Natural ventilation uses rollup sides, roof vents and side vents to allow air movement to flow naturally through your greenhouse giving you greater control over your greenhouse temperature. By using natural air and air movement to cool your greenhouse, your crop will respond beautifully. Natural ventilation is less expensive to use on a daily basis. A fan/shutter set up is beneficial primarily during winter months where natural ventilation on your greenhouse is not possible due to its design. A fan/shutter system however can be beneficial as a supplement to your natural ventilation during winter months when it is not practical to use your natural ventilation. There is a greater day to day operating cost using fan/shutters. To see which design will work best for you, a GGS sales rep will be happy to discuss this with you.
Can I put shade into my existing gutter connect greenhouse?
In most cases your greenhouse can be retrofitted with a shade system. To find out if yours can, a GGS sales rep will be happy to work with you.
Can GGS put a roof vent in my gutter connect house made by others?
Definitely. GGS has installed roof ridge vents and gutter vents on many different makes of greenhouses. We will work closely with you to make sure the vent fits your roof properly and works great.
How easy is it to put a rollup on my existing coldframe or freestanding greenhouse?
It is extremely easy to do this. All you need to provide GGS is your length, arch spacing and what your arch material is made of and we’ll provide you with a simple kit to install.
Do you install gutter connect greenhouses?
Yes. GGS provides installation upon request of your new gutter connected greenhouse.
What if I want to install it myself?
GGS provides a full set of construction blueprints with every structural order. Our Sales and Service department is also here to help over the phone should you need any extra construction assistance.
Do you have Construction Supervisors that are able to lead my employees?
Yes. GGS greenhouse construction supervisors can be scheduled by the hour, day, or week. Our construction supervisors are experts not only in new builds but also retrofit greenhouse projects.
Do you install coldframe and freestanding greenhouses?
Yes we do. GGS can install your coldframe or freestanding greenhouse on an hourly rate.
Do you do repairs to greenhouses, even if it was made by others?
Yes we can. If the greenhouse was made by others, it will be necessary to provide the name of the manufacturer in case specific parts are required.
What are my roof cover options?
The most common roof covers are double inflated poly and glass. You can also cover with 8mm PCSS, Acrylic, and sheet metal in some applications. To find out which option is best for you, a GGS sales rep will be happy to discuss this with you.
What are the differences between using 3mm glass on my roof vs 8mm PCSS vs Acrylic?
3mm glass gives the most natural and best light transmission resulting in beautiful, healthy crop. Glass maintains its clarity for many years and is generally low maintenance. 8mm PCSS is a polycarbonate structured sheet, and is a less expensive alternative to glass. However, the light transmission is not as high and the product has an approximate life span of 10 years. 8mm PCSS can be a challenge in higher snow load areas as well. Acrylic is a little more expensive but is a natural UV protected product so it does not yellow over time like polycarbonate does. To find out which option is best for you, contact GGS and a sales rep will be happy to sit with you and help you decide.
Do you deliver?
Yes. If you live outside our delivery area, we will be happy to help schedule a third party to deliver your materials to you.
What are my payment options?
GGS offers flexible payment terms. Your sales rep will discuss the details with you.
Do I really need to put two layers of poly on my greenhouse and inflate it?
No you don’t. In fact, in some cases you cannot if you do not have electrical service to your greenhouse. However, if you have this capability, GGS strongly recommends that you do. Inflating your poly extends the life of your poly and provides insulation during cooler temperatures.
My available space won’t allow for your standard width greenhouse. Can GGS still help me?
Yes we can. A GGS sales rep will be happy to work with you on special size greenhouses.
