GGS at the Oregon Medical Marijuana Business Conference
If you missed us at the Oregon Medical Marijuana Business Conference in Portland last weekend here are a few snapshots of the highlights.
There were a lot of information sessions, and a lot of people I met seem to be just starting to get into the business. In Oregon there are no limits on licenses and it appears to be fairly easy to get licensed in comparison to the crazy regulations in many of the other states. The challenge for cannabis growers in Oregon is that with only 3 million people, successful growers will need to be efficient and produce consistent top quality product. Professional growing environments will make the difference on profitability.
Greenhouses versus Warehouses
While I met with several Oregon growers looking for greenhouse cultivation there were also those interested in high quality warehouse growing installations. In both cases the focus is on building in quality and efficiency right from the start. Growing marijuana requires hard work and dedication.
Of all the legal marijuana states to date, Oregon has the highest percentage of marijuana greenhouse cultivation, in part because of the climate and the ease with which growers can obtain a license. In the long run cultivating marijuana in the greenhouse has some distinct efficiency advantages at a lower capital cost for set up. However the advantage of growing medical marijuana in a warehouse is the absolute environmental control that you can exert on the crop. This total control may be more important for early medical marijuana production. And for businesses looking to be close to retail outlets marijuana cultivation facilities in warehouses may have the location location location advantage.
If you are interested in building high quality marijuana cultivation facilities in greenhouses or in warehouses we are happy to discuss the details of your project and how GGS can help you grow your best crop.
On the lighter side of the OMMBC, Saturday nights entertainment: rapper Jamalski was so impressed with the GGS tradeshow shirts that I gave him one.
