In most cases your greenhouse can be retrofitted with a shade system. To find out if yours can, a GGS sales rep will be happy to work with you.
Natural ventilation uses rollup sides, roof vents and side vents to allow air movement to flow naturally through your greenhouse giving you greater control over your greenhouse temperature. By using natural air and air movement to cool your greenhouse, your crop will respond beautifully. Natural ventilation is less expensive to use on a daily basis. A fan/shutter set up is beneficial primarily during winter months where natural ventilation on your greenhouse is not possible due to its design.
Absolutely. On all our coldframes, high tunnels, and greenhouses, you can add to the length at any time. Our gutter connected greenhouses are designed to be able to add houses to either side as well.
There is no maximum length from a structural point of view. Material handling factors play a more important role in determining how long you want your greenhouse.
Because our structures are modular pretty much any length is possible, however typically shorter than 48 ft long is not practical.
No - GGS only manufactures greenhouses for commercial growing operations and retail garden centers.
As I type this, the temperature outside is 44 degrees C with the humidity factored in. For my American friends reading this, that a whopping 111 F. I’m dreading those first 5 uncomfortable minutes when I get in the car at the end of the day. Hot hot hot hot hot. Hot. Luckily I, like I’m sure you do, have access to a wonderful invention called air conditioning.
Horizontal Air Flow (HAF) fans and their sisters (HVF) High Velocity Fans are essential parts of a greenhouse heating and cooling system. HAF Fans and HVF Fans are also known as circulating fans.
As a greenhouse grower or manager, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day activities and allow the little items to get missed. When it comes to energy issues, these little items can really add up! Energy conservation has been a popular topic of conversation, but there are many aspects that are often overlooked by today’s growers.
The Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) just opened a $10 million state-of-the-art research greenhouse facility in London Ontario, designed in part and built by JGS Limited, and manufactured by GGS. It is the newest addition to the Southern Crop Protection and Food Research Centre (SCPFRC). This research facility will greatly benefit growers, as the work done in this laboratory greenhouse is aimed at improving crop quality, productivity, and disease/insect resistance.
